When does DistroKid pay?

Two separate delays. First the stores report earnings to DistroKid, which happens after the listening, so a new release can take months to produce its first money. Second, once earnings are in your balance, you request a withdrawal and it is paid within the window DistroKid states. Neither depends on the day of the month.

Clock one: stores report to DistroKid

According to a summary of DistroKid’s help centre, stores report every month or two for listening from earlier months, and first earnings on a new release take a few months. We could not open that page; read the current wording. The effect for you is that a statement lists sale months that are behind the calendar.

Clock two: you withdraw

The balance sits in your account until you request a withdrawal. A summary of DistroKid’s help text gives a short window within which a requested withdrawal is sent; a RouteNote explainer (“DistroKid payments: when does DistroKid pay royalties?”) says payments go through a payment provider. We could not open either page in full, so check DistroKid’s current terms for the exact window and any minimums or fees.

People ask this in forums too, e.g. “When Does Distrokid Pay?”.

What your statement tells you

Whether money has posted for each sale month, and what your balance is made up of. Whether your payout will be reduced by withholding is a tax question, and the answer depends on you. DistroKid has a withholding page for non-U.S. residents (we could not read it); ask your accountant what applies and what to report.

Sources and how far to trust them

Last checked October 15, 2026. Sources marked “read as a summary” are pages we could see only as a search-result summary because the page itself would not open for us; we have kept those claims general and not quoted numbers from them. Per-stream figures are estimates from the two dated articles named below; none of them are ours.
